A cheerful group smiles together at an outdoor music festival filled with fun and excitement.

Our Favorite Summer Festivals in Brattleboro

Summer festivals take over Brattleboro once the warm weather finally cooperates. Downtown gets louder, outdoor chairs start appearing everywhere, and someone is usually carrying fried food that requires two hands and zero regrets.

We wait all year for this stretch of summer. Live music spills into the streets, downtown stays busy after dark, and one quick stop somehow turns into your entire evening.

Summer Festivals We Never Miss

Brattleboro doesn’t really do quiet summers. Once the season starts, our town fills with live music, food vendors, art walks, and people wandering like nobody’s checked the time in hours. Most of these summer festivals happen downtown or close by, so you can pretty much park once and call it a day.

Brattleboro First Fridays and Gallery Walk

First Fridays bring Brattleboro back to life after a long winter. Shops stay open later, musicians take over the sidewalks, and Gallery Walk draws people from May to October.

These art walks stay refreshingly low-pressure. Nobody expects you to understand contemporary art; simply relax and enjoy the art in Brattleboro, one curious stop at a time. Wander around, listen to music, and pretend you meant to visit three galleries instead of five.

Brattleboro Goes Fourth

Brattleboro Goes Fourth feels exactly like a small-town Vermont Fourth of July should. There’s a parade, live music, food vendors, games, fireworks, and enough people to make crossing the street mildly ambitious.

That said, Main Street clears out pretty quickly after the parade. Everyone heads to Brattleboro’s Living Memorial Park for food trucks, games, fireworks and sports.

Brattleboro Brewers Festival

The Brattleboro Brewers Festival gathers regional breweries, cider makers, food trucks, and live bands together for a lively Memorial Day weekend.

This one works best when you don’t rush through it. Grab something local, find a spot near the music, and suddenly, the hours disappear.

Vermont Blueberry Festival

The Vermont Blueberry Festival fully commits to the blueberry situation, and honestly, we love it. Blueberry pancakes, pies, jams, baked goods. It’s pure delicious overkill.

You’ll also find local vendors, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. Showing up hungry feels less like a suggestion and more like common sense.

Live Shows at the Parks

Summer festivals and music shows pop up around Brattleboro once outdoor concert season starts. Local parks host everything from community bands to touring musicians throughout the summer.

Most people bring folding chairs, blankets, and enough snacks for a minor emergency. Some nights feel lively. Others stay mellow enough for an easy night outside.

Brattleboro Farmers’ Market

The Brattleboro Farmers’ Market feels part market, part weekend tradition, and part accidental social event. Local farms bring produce, flowers, meats, maple products, baked goods, and prepared food every Saturday.

Grab breakfast, wander awhile, and leave carrying things you never planned on buying. That’s just part of the experience.

Marlboro Music Festival, Just Up the Road

Marlboro Music Festival sits about 30 minutes outside Brattleboro and brings musicians from around the world into our charming Vermont town each summer.

The performances lean toward classical and chamber music, but the atmosphere is surprisingly relaxed. After a busy weekend, the slower pace feels perfect.

Friends gather outdoors, enjoying drinks, sunshine, and lively summer festival vibes.

Events We Plan Our Weekends Around

Some Brattleboro events are worth planning the whole weekend around.

  • Brattleboro Goes Fourth
  • Brattleboro Brewers Festival
  • Marlboro Music Festival

All these festivals land firmly in that category for us.

These are the weekends when you book a room at our historic hotel, then figure everything else out later. Dinner plans, downtime, and schedules work themselves out once you’re here.

That’s the nice thing about staying downtown at Latchis. You’re close enough to walk almost everywhere without spending half the trip figuring out parking and directions. Also, our building is basically a town within a town. There are shops, gathering spaces, food, a hair salon, a jeweler, an attorney, and our very own Latchis Theatre — all within our building.

The Ones Our Families Love Most

Some Brattleboro events work better when everybody wants something different out of the day. You can wander in, stay awhile, and leave whenever the group starts getting hungry again.

Our favorite family-friendly summer events around Brattleboro include:

  • Gallery Walk: Open galleries, live music, local shops, and streets that stay lively into the evening.
  • Brattleboro Goes Fourth: Parades, food vendors, fireworks, and the exact level of summer chaos we fully support.
  • The Farmers’ Market: Local food, baked goods, handmade products, and music all packed into one easy stop.
  • Park concerts: Outdoor shows where lawn chairs and blankets count as perfectly acceptable seating arrangements.
  • The Vermont Blueberry Festival: Blueberry everything, local vendors, and small-town Vermont energy at full volume.

That’s our favorite kind of family getaway around here. Enough happening to keep things fun, not enough structure to make it feel exhausting.

Where Music, Art, and Downtown Come Alive

Brattleboro gets especially fun once summer weekends roll around. Gallery Walk brings open studios, sidewalk music, local artists, and people wandering between shops.

Park concerts keep the summer festivals music going for easy nights outside. Main Street keeps things moving with delicious restaurants, later shop hours, and the historic Latchis Theatre.

The historic Latchis Hotel brings vintage charm and downtown energy to the heart of Brattleboro.

Staying Steps From the Action Downtown

One of the best parts about staying at Latchis is how little effort downtown Brattleboro requires once you’re here. Most festivals, live shows, restaurants, shops, and events sit within easy walking distance.

Less time driving around and more time actually enjoying the weekend? Yes, please. Plus, staying inside a historic building connected to the theatre just feels more interesting than another forgettable hotel off the highway.

Lock In Your Festival Weekends at Latchis
